Lodging Deer Valley

Located just south of Park City, Deer Valley boasts some of the best skiing in Utah and in the United States. Its miles of terrain became especially famous during the 2002 Winter Olympics hosted in Salt Lake City. Unfortunately, for skiers who wish to find discount lodging, Deer Valley can be problematic. There simply isn't a discount Deer Valley hotel. Still, there are many things you can do to save money and enjoy your Deer Valley skiing experience.

Best Seasons to Visit Deer Valley

One of the first things you should know about Deer Valley is that lodging is seasonal. Because the city exists primarily for its ski resort, the lodging rates jump through the ceiling during the winter months. But in Spring and Fall, the rates are more reasonable. Also, as with most locations, it is always cheaper to stay on weeknights than weekends.

Tips as You Plan your Stay

In addition to planning when you will be visiting, there are a number of things you should consider before booking your lodging. Begin by asking yourself the following questions:

  • What is your purpose in visiting Deer Valley?
  • What type of accommodations are you looking for?
  • What is your price range for lodging?
  • What locations in and around Deer Valley will you be visiting?
  • How will you be traveling during your stay?
  • Are there package deals that might save you money?

Your answers to each of these questions will help you locate the best Deer Valley lodging in our suggestions below

Luxury Lodging in Deer Valley

Because Deer Valley is a resort city, many vacationers like to stay in luxurious facilities. Though the facilities at Deer Valley are limited, it offers some of the best ski lodge facilities in the world. Consider the following luxury hotels:

  • Stein Eriksen Lodge: The Stein Ericksen Lodge was designed to provide the world's finest slope-side lodging in the world, and it has lived up to that goal. With jetted tubs in each of its 170 rooms and outstanding restaurants, it is the only ski lodge to achieve a AAA five-diamond award.
  • The Chateaux at Silver Lake: This condominium hotel is located in Deer Valley's mid-mountain Silver Lake Village and offers ski-in facilities including an outdoor pool, hot-tub, free shuttle, and gourmet dining.

Discount Lodging in Deer Valley

As mentioned earlier, skiers will be hard pressed to find lodging in Deer Valley for under $150/night during the ski season, so my recommendation is that you try lodging in Park City instead. Yes, you will have to drive about 15 minutes to get to the slopes, but Park City is a much larger town and offers rates under $60. A few of the cheapest hotels in Park City include:

  • Best Western Landmark Inn: Located 20 minutes north of Deer Valley, Best Western offers deluxe breakfast, an indoor pool and extra-large hot-tub. Features an excellent view of Park City's Olympic Park.
  • Prospector Square Lodge: Located just two miles north of Deer Valley, the Prospector Square Lodge is in walking distance of several restaurants and bars. Its amenities include spa facilities with 2 pools and Jacuzzis, a sauna, and more.
